The Cooperative Health Research in South Tyrol (CHRIS) study was created to investigate how human biology, environment, and lifestyle factors contribute to people's health over time. The study is a collaboration between the Health System of the Autonomous Province of Bolzano and Eurac Research.
Between 2011 and 2018, more than 13,000 adult participants from the Val Venosta / Vinschgau district participated in the study, contributing data and samples for conducting research on cardiovascular, metabolic and neurological systems, and human aging.
The dynamic nature of this cohort allows virtual or in-person recall studies to be organized and conducted for more in-depth phenotyping or sampling in response to specific research questions or public health events.
Since 2019 all participants of the baseline assessment are being invited to come to the ongoing first follow-up.
